Service Description

Your child will go beyond just reading and discussing chapter books. They will learn and practice proven ways to build essential comprehension skills (decoding, fluency, vocabulary, sentence construction and cohesion, reasoning and background knowledge, working memory and retention). Each week builds on the week before and gives your child several opportunities to practice each skill. A typical R&B club looks like this: Children - discuss the books they are reading now or have read recently. -review the compression skill(s) from previous week(s). -explore a new comprehension skill and understand how to use it. -partner with another student to practice using the skill in a text -play a game that reinforces reading skill(s) -(if relevant) make and take a hands-on activity to reinforce the skill at home
